Blogging at my Own Domain!

Well, here I am at! Finally, I have taken the plunge into the world of webhosting. I must say, I was glad to be able to get my name as a dot com domain. Looks like I beat that Australian ballistics expert to it!
I chose to go with BlueHost based on some recommendations from Twitter friends and what I think looks like easy to use tools and ‘how to’ videos which they provide. Also, the price seemed OK when compared with other hosting companies. So far, so good as you can see, I have installed WordPress and it was super easy. Apart from the initial hiccup when BlueHost wanted to verify my order which came through via my VPN. I think they got a red flag when they saw the IP address was in the USA but my details were from Australia – and I am living and working in Beijing! The usual confusion of being an international citizen. All sorted out now after a quick email and phone call via Skype.
So, the hard work begins. I have to build up this blog and website. Build up a great network and hopefully have some interesting things to say about my world of international teaching, technology, music, living in China…………..Here goes!
